PlaydoH without cream of tartar

While I’ve been homeschooling the kids, that I nanny, I have been coming up with random ideas for science and art lessons. Today, I wanted to make easy playdoh using things you actually have on hand (I find most people don’t have cream of tartar in their spice cabinet). This recipe is non-toxic and super easy to make.

Ingredients

3/4 cup water

3 tablespoons lemon juice

Food coloring

1 cup flour (with additional flour, as needed)

1/4 cup salt

1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

In a glass measuring cup or microwave safe dish, combine water and lemon juice. Microwave until boiling, about 2-3 minutes.

Stir in drops of food coloring until you get the color desired.

In a separate medium sized bowl, mix together flour and salt.

Slowly add liquid to the dry ingredients and allow the child stir together until mixture forms a dough. Add oil (this will prevent sticking). If dough is sticky, add 1/3 cup of flour at a time until the mixture is soft yet firm.

Store in a bowl until you’re ready to discard to make more.
